in July 2017 a group of young people aged 15-17, from Crewe and Nantwich area, doing NCS (National Citizen Service) were looking for a charity to fundraise for. A friend of Alison’s called Darryle, who was leading the group, asked if it would be ok to fundraise for Ceri’s Memorial Fund for CRY. Alison agreed and was delighted that the group chose CRY.
They had never heard of CRY before so they were given some literature to learn more and spread awareness with a wide range of people. They were moved by the fact that Ceri had died so young at 22 years old and we had some interesting conversations.
The young people did some collecting by visiting people’s homes; they went round to local businesses and shops asking for raffle prizes and did 2 till bucket collections in Crewe Tesco’s and also ran an awareness stall there. They were very passionate about supporting CRY and were an amazing group of young people to work with.
A fantastic sum of £398.63 was raised over two weeks in July.
