Cllr McCoubrey said: “I am very much looking forward to serving the residents of Abergele and surrounding areas.
“It is an honour and a privilege to be the town mayor.”
Cllr McCoubrey chosen charity for the year is CRY – Cardiac Risk in the Young. He chose this charity following the bereavement of his nephew two years ago due to an undiagnosed heart condition.
Cllr McCoubrey added: “The charity went on to scan the brother of my nephew, who also had a heart condition detected and now lives a healthy life with medication to treat his condition which was only picked up through being screened.
“I would like all young people in Abergele to be screened.” He hopes to raise funds to do this and work with sporting communities and schools.
