On Sunday 9th September, we held our end of season funday, and the charity chosen this year was CRY. This charity has become close to a number of hearts in our town after the sudden death of Ben Walker (Benji) aged just 14. At the end of our Ladies season we host a funday where we ask teams to enter a mixed team and play a number of games during the day followed by the presentation for the league. Thrapston Ladies where the team to chose the charity and this year they suggested CRY, and all the teams agreed. Georgie and myself started planning this event at the beginning of the season and worked hard to ensure we’d have a successful day. The day consist of a number of games, BBQ, club house open, tea and coffee, and a massive raffle where a number of local companies donate a prize to help raise as much money for the charity as possible. This year we took the most amount of money on the raffle that we have ever taken which was £462. Prizes donated where a fruit basket with £100 voucher from Morrisons, Amazon Echo from Morrisons, meal vouchers from Woolpack Inn and Burger King, indulgence beauty voucher, fish and chips – Pieces, Cuts for Mutz groomers and many, many more. The Day was great with a number of local people popping down to watch and support the event. Nicola and Andy Walker (Benji’s parents) came down to support us too and it was an absolute pleasure to see them and their friends.
