As this year’s walk couldn’t go ahead I decided to do the 5.1 miles around my home town of Seaham. At present we have local lockdown restrictions which mean different households are not allowed to meet up. Consequently, I did the walk alone in memory of our son, Kevin Paterson. The weather was atrocious, storm Alex battering the North East coast. I started in our local park and continued on to the coast. It was a very exhilarating walk, perhaps not as challenging as some of the Durham routes but I did incorporate some walking up and down the cliffs to the beach. I came home very wet but pleased to have completed it. My sister and her husband also walked but earlier in the day. Hopefully next year we will be back in Durham.
