Paintings went under the hammer for charity last week.
More than £1,700 was raised for Cardiac Risk in the Young, after the art auction was held at The Ship, in Harwich.
The event was held in memory of Marcus Armstrong, who died aged 28 from an undetected heart defect four years ago.
About 30 people packed into the King’s Quay Street restaurant on Thursday night to bid for 12 paintings.
Jamie Sallows, owner of The Ship, said: “It was an excellent night.
“We managed to raise £1,700, which is fantastic.
“There was a particular painting of my dad’s we have had hanging in the restaurant since it opened and we never said we would sell it.
“But it was generating a lot of interest and my dad said he wanted to sell it for charity.
“Four people were bidding for it in the end and it sold for more than £500 along.
“The charity is something that is very close to all of us involved in The Marcus Armstrong Memorial Fund.
“He was my best friend.”
The event was so successful the organisers are thinking about making it an annual auction.
“But we will have to think about it before we decide to definitely do it again,” added Mr Sallows.
