On 16th October 2022, the Bath Half finally returned following a 2-year break, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the event. Over 7,000 runners took part, and we were extremely fortunate with the weather, with blue skies and sunshine for the duration of the race. The atmosphere was electric, with thousands of people lining the streets of Bath to cheer the runners on.
Our fundraising team consisted of: Charis, Chloe, Emily, Eoifa, Felix, Gwyn, Izzy, Jess, Joel, Matt, Megan, Remy, Will and myself (Liv). We all ran the half marathon in memory of our beloved friend Anthony Evans, who unexpectedly suffered a cardiac arrest on the 21st February 2021 during our second semester at the University of Bath. Anthony was unable to recover from his cardiac arrest, sadly passing away a few days later surrounded by his loving family.
Anthony will always be a part of our Y5 family, and we all miss him deeply. We are extremely grateful for all of the support we have received from our friends and family, and as a result we have surpassed our goal of £4,000, as we have now raised over £5,000 for CRY. The day was full of emotion, but we are all so thankful for how much money was raised, which will help detect cardiac abnormalities in young people as well as support affected families.
We’d like to thank everyone for their support, and for those who cheered us on during the Bath Half!
