On 25th October 2008, my friend Judy and myself (Marilyn), had a stall in the Foyer of Asda to raise awareness and funds for CRY.
This is something that we had planned to do for some time, and so we tried to get it to coincide with CRY’s Raising Awareness week as best we could.
My son Simon Cullum died of SADS on 7th June 2007, aged 29yrs. This is when I became aware of CRY and since then have been trying to do as much as I can to raise awareness and funds in Simon’s name .
It was a very cold and windy day but the shoppers were out in force. Several people thought we were selling poppies, but still gave us their money anyway.
I actually met a couple of people who had lost a loved one and already knew of CRY, so that was nice. Also I met a mum of one of Simons friends, she came and introduced herself, so that was nice too.
On the day we took £138 and I have also been given donations since the day so the total has gone up to £200.
We are now looking ahead to our next fundraiser and hope that it will be as successful as other events we have done!!
