On Sunday 30th October I took part in the Ikano Bank Robin Hood Half Marathon in Nottingham, in aid of Cardiac Risk in the Young. I chose this charity for the amazing work they carry out, research and screenings for undiagnosed heart conditions. I’m really proud to be supporting this fantastic organisation as I’ve had a screening myself last year as I fall into the age range they screen for. Thankfully my screening came back clear but I’m hoping for another screening this year now I’m 35.
The half marathon went well although it were pretty tiring but with determination in mind and shouts of encouragement from the crowds I finished in just under two hours. The emotions were running high at one point but my mind were on that finish line & achieving that goal.
I’d like to give special thanks to all the team at CRY for supporting me, especially Rhianne Watson who I’ve liased with in promoting my story. Now it’s time for those ever important leg stretches before I seize up completely haha. So far I’ve raised over £400 for CRY with money still being raised which is fantastic. I hope to do more charity work with CRY in the future.
