A few months ago a group of 8 people (now unbelievably in their 30s but still thinking they are closer to their teens) thought it would be a good idea to set ourselves a challenge. When we spotted the Salford 10k coming up it felt like a sign. So, after much debating, and more than a little persuasion, we all signed up. Wanting to make it about more than just us and our fitness (and ever expanding waistlines!) we wanted to give something back and chose CRY as our charity due to friends and family being affected. One in particular was the story of Jake Carney, the cousin of one of our runners. He died from sudden arrhythmia death syndrome (SADS).
After much training and tactical discussion I’m thrilled to say that all 8 of our team got round and in some fantastic times. Despite injuries and fitness concerns everyone pushed that bit harder and completed the course which is something we are extremely proud of. And raising over £500 is just the icing on the cake!
