On Sunday 22nd September 2024, I ran my first ever 10K, whilst raising money for CRY. In November 2023, I went along to my own CRY screening, and left with a recommendation to seek further tests & investigations under the NHS. I have had a couple of appointments with a Cardiologist now, and I am hopeful for my results.
I started running earlier this year. Initially, I was worried about running, whilst waiting for my tests, however; I decided that enough was enough, and after my first appointment with my Cardiologist, I decided to invest in some running trainers, and off I went! I started the Couch to 5K and I slowly started to build myself up.
I signed-up to the 2024 Warrington Running Festival only a couple of months ago. I was determined to push myself to reach my first 10K milestone, and what better way to do so, by raising money for an amazing charity!
The day itself was great – we managed to dodge the rain, so that was an added bonus! I ran with my Husband by my side, and with family members & friends watching me cross the finish line. I had a ‘target’ time of 1 hour 15 minutes, and I managed to complete it in 1 hour 13 minutes and 58 seconds!
All together, I have managed to raise £557.00 and I feel so proud! Thank you so much to all of my sponsors, not only for supporting me, but for also supporting CRY & the many families affected by YSCD.
I am already looking forward to my next running event!
