Thank you and congratulations to the 20 CRY runners who took part in the Sure Run to the Beat 10K on Sunday 14th September 2014.
The Sure Run to the Beat 10K was a new event this year as it has previously been a half marathon. The location also changed to Wembley Park.
We were lucky with the weather as it stayed dry throughout the event, with sunny intervals. There was also a cool breeze which I’m sure all of the runners appreciated as it was a bit too hot at times. This was perfect weather for the spectators and cheerers.
There were 13 music stations around the route which kept the runners motivated along the hilly 10K and a main stage at the finish. The atmosphere was amazing with music by headline acts DJ duo Sigma, BBC Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw and Tom Parker from The Wanted.
CRY runners who visited the CRY meeting point after the race were given a warm welcome, had their photo taken and were given a CRY goody bag by CRY staff, Cara MacMillan and Lesley Dallow. Emma Jolliffe was the first of the 10 CRY runners to arrive at the meet-and-greet point with an amazing finishing time of 46.56 minutes.
As always, it was wonderful to meet the runners and to put names to faces.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the day including runners’ family and friends who were there to support them. It was great to see them all.
We would like to say a special thank you to Julie Murray and James Williams from Unum, a company who are currently supporting CRY as their charity of the year.
