Miners' Arms Charity

Music in Sheffield's Botanical Gardens July 2014

Thursday, July 15th 2014 and “the team” of special friends were ready in their CRY T shirts to sell programmes on the gate of the Botanical Gardens in Sheffield.  It was a lovely summer’s evening.  The music for the evening was a Glen Miller Tribute Band.  We set up a table next to the gazebo with


First Screening in Dronfield 12th July 2014

On 12th July 2014 the first screening in Dronfield took place at Gosforth Fields Playing Fields Association premises. A team of seven came from CRY and 100 young people were screened during the day.  Our local MP Natascha Engel also came to offer her support as well as the local Freemasons.  A team of ladies –


St. Georges' Day Parade april 2014

The collection at the church service after the parade was donated to CRY.  A fitting tribute as Neil had, as a scout and venture scout, carried the flag at the head of the parade on a number of occasions.


Freemasons support CRY

The Freemasons Provincial Grand Charity of the Province of Derbyshire presented £250 to Elaine following a donation of the same amount by the Freemasons Dronfield Lodge at the end of 2013.  


Coffee Morning in memory of Neil Ward

A coffee morning was held at the home of Elaine Ward on 29th November 2013 to raise funds for the heart screening in Dronfield in July 2014.  £414 was raised thanks to friends who together with Elaine made and sold craft items, cakes, jams and chutneys, cards and Christmas Trees made out of Celebration Chocolates which


Rotary Supports CRY

In September 2013 The Rotary Club of Dronfield donated £250 to CRY as well as to other local charities. The money was raised by Dronfield Rotarians who had taken part in the summer 2013 Music in the Gardens event in Sheffield’s Botanical Gardens.

Inner Wheel Club President Elaine Ward (pictured) is the 29th President of the Inner Wheel Club of Dronfield (July 2012 – July 2013) and her chosen charity for the year is Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) – a cause dear to her own heart as her son Neil died suddenly aged 17 in 1992. Neil
