In memory of Danielle Hampson-Mann, an 11-a-side charity football match took place on Sunday 16th July at Howe Bridge Leisure Centre in Atherton. Friends and family of Danielle and the family made up both teams, with Danielle’s Dad, Martin as captain for Team Southampson and brother, Andy as captain for Team Mannchester – both team names being a nod to Danielle and her partner, Tom. Team Southampson won the match 4-3 which meant Danielle’s Dad took home the trophy.
We used this event to raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young after Danielle sadly passed away on 18th June 2022 at the age of 34, the morning after what should have been her wedding day. Danielle sadly left behind Tom and her son, Bowie, who was only 8 months old at the time. Danielle was a highly successful dancer having performed with artists such as Spice Girls, Take That and Harry Styles. She made a huge impact on many people’s lives both personally and professionally and we hope her legacy will live on in events such as this.
After the success of the event and raising over £6.5k, we are looking to host a charity match once a year in memory of Danielle, raise vital funds for this charity and bring friends and family close together.
Special thanks to Keith Snape for organising, Martin Hampson for helping to fill the teams and the generous support of friends, family and strangers with their donations!
