On Saturday 21st September friends and family of Joe Herrington competed in a fishing competition in Little Walden and raised a wonderful £880 for the Joe Herrington Memorial Fund.
“I set this up for Joe’s friends and their families so they could enjoy something that Joe was passionate about.
We all met at Home Farm Fishery, Little Walden, www.homefarmfishery.co.uk. There were 17 teams of 2 anglers but such is the popularity of the day that most teams had an entourage of “teammates”. So there were over 60 people there.
The fishing was hard on the day so my team of “expert” helpers were kept busy sorting out all the problems the learners came across.
We ended with a total weight of 217lbs with dog biscuit of the top being most successful and the most fun. The winners were Nat and Paul Carter. 2nd Sam Copeland and Archie Miller. 3rd Josh Fulcher and Jake Herrington (Joe’s little brother)
We also managed to raise £880 pounds for the Joe Herrington Memorial Fund. This goes towards the mobile ECG Screening events around Cambridge through CRY www.c-r-y.org.uk, such as the one we are having on Oct 19th and 20th at Netherhall School, Cambridge. www.testmyheart.org.
The nicest thing for Daniela and I was that everyone there knew Joe. Everyone is looking forward to next year!”
