Luton's sports supremo Greg Whyte poised to swim the Channel last Sunday, has been kicking his heels in Dover waiting for a window in the weather – alongside the four-woman relay team he's been coaching for ITV's This Morning's Challenge of a Lifetime.
Now his older brother Steve is anxious his Channel attempt, scheduled for July 19, may be scuppered for the same reason.
Steve, who lives in Derwent Drive, Dunstable, and teaches maths at Berkhamsted Collegiate School, is doing his swim for Greg's charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young).
The former Ashcroft schoolboy has been building up his strength doing four, five and six hour sessions and was about to start a two-week tapering off period to ease up and rest before the big day. But although his carefully orchestrated plan to do it as his peak could come to nothing, he's determined to continue fundraising.
