William Lane
This fund is in memory of William – twin brother of Matthew, younger brother of Isobel and the youngest (by 11 minutes) son of Teresa and Richard.
William died suddenly at school on 25 February 2022 despite attempts to resuscitate him by his friend, paramedics, the London Air Ambulance and the team at Croydon University Hospital. He was a month away from his sixteenth birthday. We found out afterwards that he had an undiagnosed congenital heart defect.
We all miss William: his smile, his kindness and his love for our family. William (Will to his friends) was full of life and loved nothing more than a day at Thorpe Park or Chessington riding rollercoasters. He enjoyed playing the trumpet, performing with Wandsworth Music and various school bands, and was a talented artist. He liked going to Craven Cottage to support Fulham, watching TV with his brother, listening to music and spending time with his friends who were very important to him. The Suffolk coast has a special place in all our hearts and it is where William rests now, looking out over the North Sea.
Trying to sum up our lovely boy here is impossible. We love him and miss him so much, and always will. Supporting CRY’s vital work brings hope that other families will be spared our terrible loss.
This memorial fund has been set up by the family to help CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death through supporting CRY’s research programme.
The aim is to fund research into the causes and prevention of young sudden cardiac death.
